Tic a Toc - People Clock AND People Flock!

video

Here it is, Yall! A - Yes - Yes, Yall!
Hey better late than never. Sorry for overlooking getting this one up online for so long.
Peace to all the heads who showed love over the years, and still do now.
Like I said on YouTube, Me and Etch disagree to this day as to who the producer is/was.
Though I did give him co-producer credit.
Man, I wish the web was around back in the early nineties when I was pushing this one and I Get Lifted / Ride the B Side.
I had no type of promotion budget; did the who thing off the muscle, and I still managed to catch rec.
I appreciate the positive feedback that I've gotten on Da Plan and the other independent joints I've put out.
Another one that I've been neglecting as far as web exposure is "Rock On" from the Secret Agent LP. That one will be online soon. In the meantime, you can listen to it at kenomega.com.

Ey, yo! What's Da Plan?!
Knock Heads Out The Box And Ex-pand! That's The Plan!

Peace!

Kid Spittin' on the Weather Report Box Set! What?!

As most of you know, my 1992 independent release, "Ride The B Side" was created using several pieces of the 70's fusion classic "125th Street Congress" by Weather report. I was the first hip hop artist ever to use/sample that song. And um, if I do say so myself, NOBODY freaked that shit like me! Yeah, other groups came later and used it. And I guess their song(s) might have even gotten more commercial acclaim. But I don't care. This was one of the best tracks I ever made. "Room To Breathe" was another. But that one was far simpler.

So it was pretty Karmic when I walked into my boy Chris Castagno's studio one spring evening in 2004, and there was DJ Logic of the Yohimbe Brothers remixing, yep, "125th Street". Also, my birthday is January 25th. How nutty is that?!

I think the instrumental of "Ride the B Side" should have made the box set too. But that's another story. The Weather Report Box Set is Called: Forecast Tomorrow (Sony /2006).
And the "125th Street Remix" is on Disk 3.

My man Logic knew my joint form 1992. So he didn't have any problem with me jumping on the REMIX to remind cats what was what. That was pure love. Peace Logic. Get at me yo!
We've gotta do some more stuff.

Back in the Day

Somebody caught a nice one over in Dumbo. This was from 1990. The Downtown Science Album hadn't dropped yet.
I was in the studio a lot. A few of the cuts we did never got released - mostly due to sample clearance.
Back then I used to ride my mountain bike all through dumbo. It was still mad cool and bohemian back then.
Now it's doormen and what not. Not that there's anything wrong with having a concierge.
It's just not the vibe it used to be. There's manicured park filled with baby strollers where there used to be bath tubs, radiators and wrecked cars abandoned at the edge of the East River. Anyway, here's to graffiti.

Ride The B Side

video

Whatuuuuuuup!!!

Here's that joint I tossed out in 1992 - "Ride The B Side". I know it's been hard to find.
But now you can listen as much as you like. Incidentally,
the sample, as most of you probably know, is from Weather Report's "125th Street Congress".
I used it before Pharcyde made "Passing Me By." They also used a different sample from the song.

That group is mad cool though. They made some great shit.

Funny! Fourteen Years later, and I was spitting on the same Weather Report beat all over again.

Peace to Stretch Armstrong for showing crazy love when I dropped "Ride The B Side."
I also can't forget Clark Kent and DJ Silver Surfer from 107.5 - WBLS FM - NY.
Also want to thank all the cats from all over the United States Europe and Japan who blew me up when I didn't have enough money for adequate promotion. They saw it like I did - and still do:
If the shit is hot, throw it on! That's how hip hop evolved. What happened? Oh, that's right - PAYOLA. That's that bullshit.

Anyway, those were the days. The Early 1990's was the most amazing time in hip hop, and rock and roll as well. So much new ground-breaking shit was dropping left and right.
Even hip hop street wear was just on the rise - Natural High, PNB Nation, 555 Soul, Karl Kani.
Cats were doing it back then. Eventually though, I guess some got super paid, while others fell by the wayside.
In the long run, it all went commercial. But I never did. And I never will.
Don't get me wrong; I'll take the doe. But I'll never compromise my shit.

Been A Long Time - What Up!

What's Good, People.

Some of you may have been following my website, busybos.com
but I won't be renewing that after may of this year. No worries though.
All the music, pics and vid links will be here. So you can still check that
Bos Money flave from back in the day.

I say back in the day, because these days I mainly go by Ken Omega™.
That's right. I'm that James Bond mother fucker for real. I can't be
traped in the MC Box. I'm too versatile for that. Plus, these days hip hop just isn't moving me like it used to.

Picture me saying "Yeah. I'm an MC," when someone who doesn't know me asks me what I do.
Not. A little too big for that these days. Don't get me wrong. I'm still creative, and still hit the music from time to time - although less and less lately. This blog is dedicated to stuff I did in the past. And hopefully it will satisfy the immediate interest of any who has been trying to track my whereabouts.

It's going to take a few days to get all the key stuff up on this page so bear with me.
Also, check out kenomega.com, and my other blogs if you like helicopters and that sort of thing.
Thanks for stopping by. I'll have the beats and pics up soon.

Peace!
